WILL LIBERTY SURVIVE?
The forces of evil are winning.
If the forces of evil win decisively in America, what chance does the rest of the world have? It is not realistic to suppose that all the great nations of the world can be thoroughly enslaved and locked into a Police State, and yet some small part of the world will survive with its Liberty intact. Some petty bureaucrat will soon notice this remaining shred of Liberty and will send out some even more petty bureaucrat to bring the True Faith and the Love of Big Brother to even this remote and unimportant outpost. Conformity will reign supreme.
We need to win broadly. We need to win the world. We don’t need to win the world today, but that’s the goal. That’s where we’re going. Never forget that. The goal is not “Liberty for our valley, and the rest of the world can go to Hell.”. If that’s the goal, the rest of the world will go to Hell, and it will take us with it.
You have free will. You have the power of choice. You have some idea of what you can do to help.
The most important thing is, when you look back from the future, will you be satisfied with what you did or did not do? How will you judge yourself?
We might say, “It’s hopeless, and we’re going to lose!”. It would be hard to prove this wrong.
But even if it is hopeless and even if we are going to lose, that does not change what you need to do. It does not change your duty.
We are not fighting for Liberty because we know we are going to win.
We are fighting for Liberty because it is the right thing to do.
Regardless of the situation, it is never ethically or spiritually permissible to give up the fight for Liberty. This applies in good times and in hard times. It applies even if Liberty has been lost.
The purpose of life is to pursue happiness.
In the absence of Liberty, the purpose of life is to achieve Liberty, as the first step in the pursuit of happiness.
GOOD SIGNS
Ron Paul’s campaign for President was very encouraging. It brought Liberty Lovers out of the woodwork. It revealed that many Americans still love Liberty. Other candidates would have a rally and would draw a crowd of 200. Ron Paul would have a rally and would draw a crowd of 5,000. If the election had been honest, if Ron Paul had not been cheated and stopped at every turn, he would be President today.
Many Americans still have their guns.
Newspaper articles draw vigorous and insightful comments. There are people out there with understanding of what is going on.
We can still use the internet. We can still use email. The Thought Police do not take us away in the night. Not yet.
There are good men in other parts of the world.
The great legal advances of the Police State are making a broader public nervous.
HEROIC ROLE MODELS
Patrick Henry said, “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”.
Winston Churchill said, "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing-grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender!".
Remember the Battle of Thermopylae, in which a handful of Greeks stopped the invasion of a huge army of Persians. They were killed, but their names have lived in glory for 2,500 years.
Remember the Alamo. In 1836, a couple of hundred Texans, including Jim Bowie, William Travis, and Davy Crockett, fought the invading Mexican army of Santa Anna. They were killed, but they are remembered as heroes.
Think of Princess Leia fighting Darth Vader.
