THE FADING ILLUSIONS OF FREEDOM, PEACE, AND PROSPERITY
Now, at the start of 2014, the emerging monster of tyranny in America is only thinly veiled.
The three great issues in politics are Liberty, War, and Finance. In that order of importance.
What we should have is Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity.
What we are getting is Slavery, War, and Poverty. That is, we have a little taste of these right now. But there are strong indications that each of these three will get a very great deal worse in the near future.
Picture a slave state like George Orwell’s “1984”, where “Big Brother is watching you.”. We already know that the government is recording all our emails and phone calls. They admit it, and they don’t even care that we know. They do it in foreign countries, including heads of state. They admit that too. And they don’t even care that everybody knows.
Picture a nuclear attack on America from Russia and China. Picture invasion of America from China. Picture invasion of America from Latin America.
Picture the banking system shut down. Picture the food supplies cut off. Picture millions of people trying to leave the big cities.
Is there anyone left who still believes what politicians say? Politicians don’t lie. They talk in sound bites that have no relationship to reality. Dishonesty does not even begin to describe it.
Obamacare is beginning the very predictable process of nationalizing all health care. And this of course will destroy “alternative” health care in the straitjacket of government-approved procedures.
The federal budget is well past even a feeble pretense of financial responsibility.
Illegal immigration continues to dilute American culture and bring in Left wing voters.
The American military continues its cruel assault in the Middle East with only the faintest fig leaf of justification.
The military buildup in Russia and China continues vigorously, but is never ever mentioned by anybody in government or media.
Christianity and freedom of speech are being stamped out in the name of “tolerance” for homosexuals and Muslims.
Elected Democrats push all these programs.
Elected Republicans fight back weakly and carefully manage to lose and to discredit themselves in the process.
One can fight some things in court. But in the overall picture, the courts are as corrupted as the rest of the government. The courts tolerate police brutality. They tolerate police ignoring Constitutional protections. They tolerate police routinely planting evidence. The courts always back up the government’s claim to keep everything everywhere secret in the name of “national security”.
PREPARING FOR WAR, THE POLICE STATE, AND CIVIL WAR
All these trends are rushing at us like a freight train.
There are valiant people doing their best. But the enemy continues with victory after victory.
Where is the graph which is turning in the right direction?
Where is the speaker of truth who is more than “a voice crying in the wilderness”?
It would behoove us – it would be fitting, appropriate, and sensible for us – to start to prepare for the day when all this is more than just bad news that we hear about from a distance.
There will be war, here in America.
There will be a Police State, here in America.
There will be, in all probability, civil war, here in America. This is the optimistic prediction. The pessimistic prediction would be that there are no Americans left who are still willing to fight for Liberty. It seems likely that Americans who love Liberty and hate the Police State will move and gather in certain areas. These areas will become pockets of resistance and will be willing to shoot back when the feds try to send in the troops. This is the kind of “militia” that is envisioned in the Second Amendment. That’s why there is a Second Amendment, to make it possible for free citizens to resist the tyranny of government.
THE ENEMY IS LYING LOW
The Communists are lying low, all around the world – in Russia, in Eastern Europe, in China, in South Africa, and in Latin America. They want to avoid alarming people and stirring up resistance, so they are doing their best to be invisible. For the time being. When they believe that the time is right, they will become visible again. Then the grim reality and the bitter truth will become evident.
It seems very likely that the same can be said of the American Police State. Lawless Police State practices are now common, and they receive the stamp of approval from the courts. Everything is in place. But Police State practices are not yet pervasive. They have not yet come for you or me. They may be reading our emails. But so far, we can still send them.
It seems like a good guess that when the Communists suddenly appear as if by magic around the world, that will be the time when the American Police State suddenly appears as if by magic. Serious Thought Control will begin. The Thought Police will take off the gloves. Those who do not love Big Brother will find their websites shut down, and their email accounts cancelled. Dissidents will be rounded up.
This might not happen until after the nuclear attack which starts World War III. That will be the Great Justifier which makes every form of tyranny OK. That will also be the end of the financial game, in which the government runs the deficit and the national debt into the stratosphere as if there is no tomorrow. World War III will be the excuse which makes it possible to cancel all debts and start the financial game all over again, from the beginning. The bankers can say, “It wasn’t our fault!”.
BE A SOLDIER IN THE WAR OF IDEAS
With all these pictures in mind of war and catastrophe, it is easy to focus on physical weapons and on getting physically prepared. This would be a mistake. This is only part of what is needed.
For at least a century, the world has been blanketed in a very thick layer of enemy propaganda.
It is better to persuade someone than to shoot him.
This applies both from the enemy viewpoint and from the viewpoint of Liberty Lovers. But the enemy has known and applied this principle far better than we have. We who have enjoyed the fruits of Liberty have generally ignored the need to defend, promote, and expand Liberty. American policy toward the Soviet Union in the 1950’s was “Containment”. How selfish! How stupid! How treasonous! How evil! In effect, America said, “We don’t care if half the world is enslaved in a nightmarish Police State. We’re not going to lift a finger to help.”.
The enemy, in contrast, has been intensely aware of their Great Crusade for World Conquest. Marx said in the Communist Manifesto in 1848, “Let the ruling classes tremble at a communist revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Proletarians of all countries, unite!”.
The Communists have not been hesitant to shoot people. But also they have not been hesitant to issue forth from countless sources, a flood, an unending tidal wave, an ocean, of propaganda about the evils of the free society and the glories of totalitarian rule by the government.
It is not true that the desirability of freedom is self-evident. If it were, there would not be so many people fighting against it. Freedom needs to be sold. Freedom needs to be advertised and promoted and marketed. Freedom needs to be explained.
The lies of the enemy need to be exposed. And there are many. In this we have an advantage. Truth is on our side. We love the truth. The enemy loves lies and deception. But in order to take advantage of this, we have to talk. A lot.
And the enemy, who loves lies, will slander us. And sue us. And prosecute us. And generally shut us down. This is the war of ideas.
The war of ideas is more important than the war of bullets.
