POLITICS IS ABOUT LIBERTY AND SLAVERY
The U.S. Declaration of Independence says that “all men are . . . endowed by their Creator” with the “unalienable Right” to Liberty.
In the American Revolution, the Founding Fathers fought for Liberty.
The U.S. Constitution says that its purpose is to “secure the blessings of liberty”.
The American “Pledge of Allegiance” affirms that America has “liberty and justice for all”.
In World War II, America fought the Germans and the Japanese because America saw them as a threat to Liberty.
In the “Cold War”, America opposed the Soviet Union because America saw the Soviet Union as a threat to Liberty.
Whenever Communists fight a revolutionary war to overthrow the government of some nation, they claim to be “liberating” that country. Communist armies are called “Liberation Armies”. The Chinese army is called the “People’s Liberation Army”.
America claims to be fighting in the Middle East to bring Liberty.
Numerous recent laws passed in America and Britain are criticized as reducing Liberty. They are defended as protecting Liberty from its enemies.
LIBERTY IS GOOD. SLAVERY IS EVIL.
Good men work to make men free. Evil men work to make men slaves.
Liberty is the measure of goodness in politics and in society.
That civilization is best which has the most Liberty.
Liberty is what is good in politics. Liberty is what is virtuous in a civilization. Liberty is the test of right and wrong in making laws, in enforcing laws, and in judging the application of laws.
George Washington and the other Founding Fathers created a free country. They established a nation where Liberty existed in fact. What greater good deed could there be than that?
