The Russians and the Chinese are both dedicated students of Sun-Tzu, the author of the ancient Chinese classic, “The Art of War”. The entire text is at http://classics.mit.edu/Tzu/artwar.html. Selected quotes are at http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/1771.Sun_Tzu. Sun-Tzu says:
“Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”
“All warfare is based on deception.”
“Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.”
“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”
APPEAR WEAK WHEN STRONG, STRONG WHEN WEAK
Immediately after World War II, when America was the only substantial military power in the world, Americans were taught to think that Russian power was comparable to American power. This was “appearing strong when you are weak”. In this, Russian propaganda and Establishment propaganda were the same.
Now, when Russia is getting very strong indeed, Americans are taught to believe that America is “the only superpower”. Russia and China are friendly and militarily weak – no threat at all. This is “appearing weak when you are strong”.
ALL WARFARE IS BASED ON DECEPTION
Deceptions abound.
Examples: There is no conspiracy. Russia and China are our friends. Things are fine. The government is taking care of you.
BREAK THE ENEMY’S RESISTANCE WITHOUT FIGHTING
There are numerous programs to break America’s resistance without fighting. The destruction of education. Drugs, especially psychiatric drugs. Making guns illegal. And many others.
SUBDUE THE ENEMY WITHOUT FIGHTING
There are so many harmful things happening that seem sufficient to create a slave state, that one sometimes wonders why they would bother to have a war. But all these harmful programs certainly reduce the need for war. They are in the direction of subduing the enemy (that’s us) without fighting.
