MATTERS OF FACT
I’m sorry that this is all so unpleasant.
It shouldn’t be so unpleasant. There is no reason it has to be so unpleasant. There is nothing about the nature of the universe that says it has to be so unpleasant, that it has to involve so much war, slavery, pain, misery, and suffering.
It’s just a matter of fact. That’s just how it is. The fact that we don’t like it and that we wish it were otherwise, does not change it.
If we pay close attention and if we work very very hard, we have at least a chance to turn things around, to straighten things up, and to make this world a nice place to live.
Sometimes things are not the way you want them to be. In such a case you just have to grit your teeth, tighten your belt, and do the best you can to deal with things the way they really are.
WORK AND GLOOM
There is no need to be gloomy about it. There is no need to be angry about it. What is needed is to do something effective about it.
Be cheerful.
Sneer at the enemy. Ridicule the enemy. Tell the enemy that he is a wimp and a pussycat. That is the correct attitude, provided that you can at the same time be realistic in estimating the disposition of forces. Strategic planning should not be based on wishful thinking and blind optimism. Strategic plans should be based on the best possible appraisal of the enemy and of his capabilities and on the best possible use of one’s own resources.
If it all looks overwhelming and impossible and hopeless, well, do the best you can.
As Winston Churchill said in World War II, when Britain stood alone against the might of Hitler’s Germany, “Never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”.
WORK AND PLAY
If you are a ditch digger, you work hard. Then you rest. It’s hard work, and you don’t expect yourself to dig ditches all day every day. Sometimes you play and party. You believe that you have done well and that you have earned your party time.
Studying world affairs, studying the Conspiracy which is the main player on the world stage, and trying to do something about it, can be a lot of work. There can be strong emotional reactions.
Treat it as the hard work which it is. Don’t expect too much from yourself. One of the things you need to manage is your own capacity. Even a soldier who is right now under enemy fire is sometimes ordered to go off and get some sleep by his commanding officer.
THE OSTRICH APPROACH
You can always take the ostrich approach and stick your head in the sand.
But what will be the result of that? The bad guys will do their worst, without even a complaint from you. What you do might make some slight difference. That’s better than nothing.
You have free will. You can choose to turn left or to turn right. When it’s time for dinner, you do bother to go and eat. You have the ability to do it. You know that if you do not do it, then you will be hungry. You know that what you do does make a difference to your own future.
THE ULTIMATE TEST OF RIGHT AND WRONG
Nobody is asking you to walk on water.
Do the best you can.
The ultimate test of whether you did the right thing or not is when you look back from the future.
You are your own judge. That is, you will be your own judge in the future when you look back at what you have done or not done, and at the consequences of what you have done or not done.
